This is my 31st post on this world of blog. So I must make it special. Ha-ha not that special la. Just want to blog on minus plastic.

Even since plastic was invented/ discovered it has slowly grown to be part and parcel in many people’s lives. Walk down any street one can see plastic almost everywhere. Be it in the bus, where the handles, the casing, the chairs, and even the button to press for the bus to stop are also made of plastic. Walk down the street, the dustbin, the lamp-post cover there are so many of it make of plastic. Enter any shops; the packagings are usually made of plastic. Enter a micro-lab the pipette, the tubing for centrifugation; the Petri dishes are all make of plastic. Look in your room, CD casing, table lamp, containers, even your pens, and correction fluid is made of plastic. It seems plastic is already engraved in living.

Though it is engraved in part and parcel of living, we must do a part in reducing usage. Not saying to eliminate plastic totally out of one’s live it is almost impossible, but to reduce the amount use. Can you imagine the plastic spoon you throw today, is being buried and 100 years later when all of us are fossils the plastic spoon is still exist! There are quite a number of simple thing like you and me can do. We need not be professional environmentalist to save the earth. If it is not necessary then decline the usage to the plastic bag, but if you really need it then use it but remember to keep it and reuse it. =) I did not come out with this; it was someone who had influence me on this part of reducing usage of plastic bag. From there I learn and grow. If then I was just an ordinary girl and believes that I can do my part for the Earth why not you. There is nothing special about me. I am just like any other school going girl, so if me and SP Environment Club members can do it why not you?

Just do a little here and a little there it will become a big effort. If your little effort can influence others to put in their little effort then we will have bigger effort. Just like how POSB bank is promoting saving account “save a little here, and a little there, and it will grow” so if we dun use 1 plastic bag a day, in one year you would save 365 numbers of plastic bags. This is not only about plastic bags, but also a lot of items use in our daily lives, like spoons, forks etc.
